In October 2017 I went to London and took a trip up to the viewing platform atop The Shard, I took loads of photos but only processed a few at the time. Later in the year, when I wanted to process more of them I was horrified that I could not find the other original files from the camera, I thought they had been lost forever and the memory card had been cleared and reused for other photography.
Last week I was looking for some other files on an old disc drive that I thought only contained other back-ups and found an ‘untitled folder’. When I looked inside I was overjoyed to find the seemingly lost original camera files from the trip, I must have made a back-up and completely forgotten it was on that particular disc, I must have used it because I didn’t have space on my usual photography back-up disc at the time.
Now I have found them I have been able to process them and I have created a set of galleries from the trip. On that day, 31st October, a dull and grim looking day in the city, I also took a walk along the south bank of the Thames, seeing the Golden Hind ship and crossing the Millennium Bridge to take a look at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Despite the dull weather I am actually quite pleased with the results. A lot has changed in London after nearly nine years but you may be interested in seeing the city in autumn 2017…
