On four occasions now I have taken a walk around the city streets of Birmingham on Christmas Day around lunchtime. The city centre was virtually deserted, almost no people.
The first, in 2011, was a surprise and I had my camera with me so I took some photos. It was somewhat eerie, a strange atmosphere.
In 2019 and 2024 I had the opportunity again and deliberately went into the city centre to capture the scene.
I took the photos in colour but felt moved to process them in black and white for previous years, it seemed appropriate somehow.
This year I went into the city at about 11am and have created a gallery of the scenes, this time processed in full colour as it was a nice sunny day.
