20th February 2026, I visited the amazing village of Ironbridge near Telford in Shropshire with a friend to capture some photography.

Having started with a snack at a great cafe called The Agency we then went down to see Thomas Telford’s Iron Bridge, erected in 1779. It is the world’s first ever all metal bridge and is an amazing sight!

We then took a look around the village and the fantastic buildings there followed by a trek along the River Severn, which was very high and running fast, down to the remains of the old Free Bridge and across the new Lloyds Head Free Bridge.

We walked along the road for a short distance and found another path down to and along the river again.

Arriving back in the village we couldn’t resist a lovely ice cream at the ice cream shop, I also bought a locally made pork pie to have as a snack when I got home.

Ironbridge is a great place to visit! It also has some great museums and other attractions and one could easily spend a whole day or more exploring the sights and surrounding area.
