
19th March 2026, I visited the gorgeous and fascinating Saltwells Nature Reserve in Dudley. It is a beautiful place with fabulous walking trails around the woodlands with great wooden and metal sculptures to be discovered along the way, one of which is a dragon climbing a tree but also make sure you look up into the trees!


There is also the Doulton’s Claypit (seen I the top image), a great space to explore, and the ‘Bell Pits’ where early coal mining for the Black Country industrial revolution was carried out.


Among the other attractions is the Lodge Farm Reservoir. I will have to return to see the other areas that I could not see in the time I had there!
