On 30th June I arrived in Salisbury to start a city break with my mother. We started with a trip to see the wonderful Salisbury Cathedral which has the tallest spire in England standing at 123m (404ft).

We then took a walk around the city centre and I took a set of photos showing general views of the streets, the buildings and interesting scenes.

We also visited the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

The next day, 1st July we took a trip to see Stonehenge, it was lovely weather with great moody clouds and patches of blue sky with moments of sunshine, the conditions made for some great atmospheric photos of this amazing world heritage site dating back to 3100 BCE.

We also had a look at the replica neolithic houses, representing how people in the area lived 4500 years ago.

On 2nd July we took a train to the city of Winchester and started with visiting the fabulous Winchester Cathedral.

Having viewed the outside and the grounds we went in to see the interior.

Winchester Cathedral is the longest medieval cathedral in the world with an overall length of 170m (588ft). To find out more about the cathedral please visit their website: https://www.winchester-cathedral.org.uk

We then went to see The Great Hall, built by King William the Conqueror, it houses a round table linked to the legend of King Arthur, an incredible statue of Queen Victoria and some amazing stainless steel doors. There is also the beautiful Queen Eleanor’s Garden outside.

Next to the Great Hall is the Winchester City Council Building.

We also had a look at the Wiltshire County Council Building near the station.

We then had a trek around the city streets, Winchester is a compact, very interesting and beautiful city, it’s so worth a visit!

On the 3rd July, before leaving in the afternoon, we had a general stroll around the city of Salisbury, checking out the beautiful River Avon and some of its tributaries, the buildings and streets.
I would highly recommend a visit to the historic cities of Salisbury and Winchester, with Stonehenge nearby!
