18th April 2026, I went up to the Loton Park Speed Hillclimb event near Shrewsbury in Shropshire.
Run by the Hagley and District Light Car Club it is a short track hillclimb venue with a length of 1,349 metres (just under a mile) and a record time of 41.76 seconds to complete.

Attended by serious enthusiast drivers in a great array of different cars, bikes and trikes, it is also great for spectators with a lovely woodland walk along the track to the top of the hill and the finish line.
It has lots of parking and great facilities including food and souvenirs.
I started with a look around the paddock where drivers and mechanics prepare their cars and bikes and then went to see a few launching at the start line.

I then went on a trek to the top of the hill capturing the cars, bikes and trikes as they came up the track.

Apart from a few showers of rain it was a great sunny day for photography and I am really pleased with the results!

Even the local wildlife got involved!

I highly recommend spending a day at the hillclimb!
